FISSURES IN INDIA BLOC? SHIV SENA, AAP TO BOYCOTT PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS, TMC DIFFERS

New Delhi: Opposition parties from the INDIA Bloc, including Shiv Sena (UBT) and AAP, have declared their boycott of President Droupadi Murmu's joint address to Parliament today. They claim this protest is against what they perceive as the government's turn towards "dictatorship." AAP's decision to snub the President's address follows the arrest of their leader, Arvind Kejriwal, by the CBI in connection with a liquor policy case. The President will address a joint session of both Houses shortly.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh justified the move by saying, "Today the proceedings of the House will also begin in Rajya Sabha and President Droupadi Murmu is inaugurating the session. You all know what is happening to us, how the elected CM has been kept in jail and how he was arrested by CBI yesterday...We will definitely boycott the President's address because this is not the President's own statement, rather she reads the government's statement. She reads the written speeches of the government. So that is why we will boycott the President's address."

TMC, however, is against the boycott of the President's address and has urged parties to attend the special event. Meanwhile, the BJP has accused the opposition of insulting a "Dalit" President.
