BREAKING| CHIEF JUSTICE OF INDIA, DY CHANDRACHUD TO HEAR CONSOLIDATED NEET PLEAS IN SUPREME COURT

New Delhi: The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud will hear the consolidated pleas related to NEET-UG controversy in the Supreme Court. The hearing is scheduled for July 8. The hearing will be presided over by a bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, along with Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra.

Recently, multiple petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court concerning various allegations on NTA and NEET. Several petitions were also filed in high courts of Bombay, Jaipur, Gujarat and other states alleging malpractices and paper leaks. The upcoming hearing on July 8 aims to consolidate and address these petitions comprehensively.

The National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET)-UG was held on May 5. The results were declared on June 4 in which 67 candidates bagged 1st rank. The National Testing Agency, the conducting body, was marred with several allegations of malpractices and paper leaks. CBI took over the case and made several arrests in connection with the NEET paper leak.

On the order of  the Supreme Court, NTA conducted a retest for 1563 candidates who were awarded grace marks to compensate for the loss of time experienced by the candidates on some exam centres on May 5.  The retest result was declared on July 1 after which the ranks of all candidates were revised. The apex court has issued several notices to NTA demanding a response on the issue.

In connection with the paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday arrested the owner of a private school in Gujarat's Godhra in connection with alleged malpractices in the NEET-UG exam. Dixit Patel, owner of Jay Jalaram School situated near Godhra in Panchmahal district where the exam was conducted, was arrested in the early hours from his residence, said public prosecutor Rakesh Thakor, adding that Patel is now being taken to Ahmedabad by the CBI to acquire his remand. Patel is the sixth person to be arrested in this case wherein the accused had allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from candidates to help them in clearing the test.
