FRESH SPELL OF RAIN LIKELY IN DELHI-NCR AFTER BRIEF RELIEF FROM HUMIDITY

Delhi-NCR had a brief relief ffrom humidity after early morning rain on Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain for the region, but no heavy downpour is expected.

According to the Weather Office, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms (gusty winds at 30-40 kmph) and lightning is likely in various areas, including Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh and Sohana.

The evening in Delhi became pleasant as the rain brought relief from the heat and humidity. The IMD had previously warned about moderate to intense rainfall over parts of Delhi-NCR and surrounding areas, advising people to avoid routes prone to waterlogging.

“Moderate to intense spell of rain over parts of Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas,” the IMD forecast in a post on its official X handle. The IMD also warned that the rainfall could cause slippery roads, low visibility, traffic disruptions, and localised waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Additionally, the IMD has forecast "heavy to very heavy rainfall" over Northwest India for the next four to five days. In its 24-hour outlook for urban flood risk, the Met Office mentioned a low to moderate risk of urban flooding in certain watershed and neighboring areas of Delhi until Thursday afternoon.
