MINECRAFT PLAYERS WANT ONE EDUCATION EDITION FEATURE ADDED TO BEDROCK

Minecraft fans are requesting the return of the Camera item, now exclusive to the Education Edition of the game.

The sandbox survival game boasts a wide variety of items throughout its open world, giving players plenty of different gameplay elements between tools, weapons, and more. Minecraft even features more advanced items like Redstone, allowing players to construct amazing automated creations within the game. However, the game's Education Edition now features one exclusive item that fans want back in the main game.

Minecraft's Camera item boasts a unique purpose, entirely unrelated to the survival elements of the popular game. The Camera allows players to take pictures within Minecraft using an in-game item, rather than making use of the computer's "Print Screen" function or an external program. While the Camera was previously available in the game's "Bedrock" edition, the Camera was completely removed in the 1.16.100 update and was only made available through the Education Edition. Now, fans are requesting that the convenient item should be brought back.

In a post shared to the Minecraft subreddit by Reddit user XVShock, fans are asking why the Camera was removed entirely from the game's Bedrock Edition. The user shares several photos taken with Minecraft's in-game camera, with each featuring a photo frame similar to an old Polaroid camera. The user also points out several helpful features of the Camera, with players able to add their in-game photos to Book and Quills. A comment from the user suggests that the feature would be particularly useful in Minecraft's recently-added "Realms Stories" social mode.

Minecraft Fans Want the In-Game Camera Item Back

The replies to the post saw several users suggest the change is not the first of its kind for Minecraft's Bedrock edition. According to multiple posts, Minecraft's push for "parity" between the different versions of the game has introduced multiple changes to bring Minecraft's Bedrock edition in line with the Java version. Some fans also suggested alternative ways to take photos within Minecraft, utilizing the camera command to achieve a similar effect to the former item. One player also suggested that the Camera may have been removed from Bedrock edition due to changes in mobile phone technology, with screenshot functions becoming universal.

While many users may mourn the loss of the Camera, Minecraft has brought plenty of new elements to the game throughout recent years. Mojang and Microsoft have typically rolled out one major new update to the game each year, alongside several smaller patches. Minecraft recently confirmed "Tricky Trials" as its big update for 2024, adding in a Mace weapon, new enemies, and the "Ominous Trials" dungeon challenges. Fans can only hope that Mojang may one day reconsider the shelved Camera function with its frequent major updates.
