HOW EDELWEISS MF'S RADHIKA GUPTA SPENT HER DAY IN WATERLOGGED DELHI: 'DITCH CAR FOR FABULOUS METRO...'

Delhi-NCR was hit by heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms on Friday, bringing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat but also causing significant disruptions. The downpour led to waterlogging in various areas, the cancellation of several flights, and even the collapse of a roof at Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport.

The severe weather prompted many residents to take to social media platform X to share visuals and their experiences of coping with the chaotic weather. Among them was Radhika Gupta, CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund, who recounted her day navigating through the flooded city.

“What do you do when Delhi is flooded on the day you are supposed to have a roadshow? Ditch the car for the fabulous metro, enjoy Chole Bhatura and Rajma Chawal like a Delhi kid, and keep working...and as luck would have it, have a record roadshow turnout! The spirit of Mumbai meets the rain of Delhi!,” Gupta wrote on X.

She shared four images along with her post, illustrating her journey through the waterlogged city. The first photo depicted a car submerged in a flooded road, showcasing the extent of the waterlogging. The second image showed Gupta riding the Delhi Metro.

The online community responded enthusiastically to Gupta’s post. One user commented, “That's the right spirit to take this catastrophe in. While people are whining about it, Ma'am, you took it with a really positive outlook. Commendable!!” Another added, “It’s your charm at work, Radhika."

Meanwhile, other users also shared their grievances and experiences with the disrupted daily life due to the heavy rain. Waterlogging led to massive traffic jams, making it difficult for commuters to reach their destinations. Social media was flooded with pictures and videos of submerged streets, stranded vehicles, and people wading through knee-deep water.

The collapse of the roof at Terminal 1 of Delhi Airportadded to the chaos, with several flights being cancelled or delayed. Passengers shared their frustration on X, expressing their concerns over the infrastructure's inability to withstand such heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued warnings about the likelihood of thunderstorms and heavy rain, advising residents to take necessary precautions. Despite these warnings, the severity of the weather caught many off guard, leading to widespread inconvenience.
