HEAVY RAIN IN DELHI AFFECTS TRAFFIC, CARS CRAWL ON WATERLOGGED ROADS

Heavy rain in Delhi on Friday, caused waterlogging and long traffic jams in several areas, leading to inconvenience for commuters.The Delhi Traffic Police issued alerts to notify the affected carriageways, advising commuters to plan their journey accordingly.

Traffic police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) received several calls for waterlogging issues, traffic jams and fallen trees. Traffic was very heavy from the Akshardham area to Ghazipur meat market due to waterlogging and vehicles were seen crawling on the stretch.

Similarly, the traffic was affected on MGM (Ring Road) on the carriageway from Rajghat towards Sarai Kale Khan due to waterlogging on the MGM opposite IG Stadium Gate No. 22, Delhi Traffic Police tweeted asking commuters to plan their journey accordingly.

According to the police, traffic was affected on Anuvrat Marg in both the carriageways from 100 Foota Red Light and Lado Sarai Red Light and vice-versa due to waterlogging.

Traffic was also affected at ITO due to waterlogging. People took to social media platforms to share the traffic-related problems faced by them.

At the New Delhi Railway Station, commuters had to walk through knee-deep water, carrying children to navigate the flooded roads.

On the Ring Road, traffic was slow in both directions from Naraina towards Moti Bagh and vice-versa due to waterlogging under the Dhaula Kuan Flyover. Traffic has also been affected on Vir Banda Bairagi Marg due to waterlogging at the Azad Market underpass. On Aurobindo Marg, vehicles were stuck in both directions from INA towards AIIMS and vice-versa due to waterlogging under the AIIMS Flyover.

Water also filled metro stations in some areas in the national capital, adding to the discomfort of the people.
