ATTENTION DELHIITES! DELHI-GURUGRAM TRAFFIC WILL REMAIN AFFECTED ON NH-48, TRAFFIC POLICE ISSUES ADVISORY FOR 3-4 DAYS

Delhi Traffic Police have issued an advisory for 3-4 day for NH-48, affecting traffic from Gurugram towards Delhi due to ongoing construction work by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The service road from Shiv Murti towards Rangpuri is closed.

“Traffic will remain affected for 3-4 days on NH-48 in the carriageway from Gurugram towards Delhi as service road of NH-48 going from Shiv Murti towards Rangpuri has been closed due to ongoing work being carried out by NHAI. Commuters coming to Delhi via NH-48 are advised to plan their journey accordingly,” Delhi Traffic Police said in a tweet. 

NHAI commences upgrades on NH 48

The NHAI initiated work on improving the 121-km stretch of NH 48 between Dahisar and Achhad near the Gujarat border over six months ago, starting in December 2023. This involved closing one lane on each side of the highway.

Additionally, Delhi Traffic Police reported restricted traffic movement at Okhla Underpass due to waterlogging on June 30. “Movement of traffic is restricted at Okhla Underpass due to waterlogging. Kindly plan your journey accordingly,” the police posted on X.

Traffic snarls in Delhi after downpour

Heavy rainfall inundated parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday and Saturday, leading to waterlogging, traffic congestion, rain-related accidents, casualties, and injuries. In response, the government implemented measures to address the situation.

Despite the inclement weather, the Delhi Metro witnessed a notable increase in passenger traffic. On Friday, June 28, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) recorded more than 69 lakh passenger journeys. The DMRC highlighted that metro services operated smoothly, maintaining a remarkable punctuality rate of 99.95% despite the heavy rains affecting the city and its outskirts.
