The news about 2PM's Ok Taecyeon starring in a BL drama has left fans excited. The Korean media confirmed this week, that the rapper-actor is currently filming a Netflix Korean-Japanese drama titled Soulmate. The K-star started trending soon after his first look from the Japanese show got revealed.

The show, set in Seoul, Berlin, and Tokyo, also stars Alice In Borderland fame Japanese actor Hayato Isomura. As per reports, Soulmate revolves around two men falling in love over a span of 10 years.

What is Soulmate about?

Taecyeon plays the character of a Korean boxer, Yo Han. Hayato Isomura plays a Japanese man, Ryun who has left behind his life in his country. A chance meeting when Johan saves Ryu in a foreign church changes their fates. As the two men discover the meaning of life and love, the eventually develope a close bond while haling each other's wounds.

While the makers are yet to confirm its release date, fans anticipate a 2025 release. Ok Taecyeon first still has also left viewers eagerly await the series that has a theme of global relevance.

Ok Taecyeon's agency confirmed the news. It said, "Ok Taecyeon is set to appear in Netflix’s Japanese series ‘Soul Mate,’ which is currently in the midst of production with the goal of a release sometime next year." It further added, "Ok Taecyeon will be playing the role of Korean boxer Hwang Johan," catering to fans even outside Japan, and across the world.

Giving reasons go for doing the show, Taecyeon said as per Korean news media outlet Osen, "Even after I’d finished the script, Johan’s inner pain and struggles stayed with me for a long time, which is why I chose the project."

Hayato Isomura added, "Working with Ok Taec-yeon has been inspiring; his charm draws me in more each day. Filming in Japan, Korea, and Germany gives the project a truly global feel."

Soulmate has been written and directed by Hashizume Shunki. Fans are already speculating that the show is more than just a 'bromance', as it is set to explore themes beyond friendship, in this case, BL (boy love).

Ok Taecyeon, who was last seen in Prime Video series Heartbeat, is best known for playing the main antagonist is hit show Vincenzo, co-starring Song Joong-Ki and Jeon Yeo-been.
