MANCHESTER UNITED APPROACH THOMAS TUCHEL TO REPLACE ERIK TEN HAG FOR MANAGERIAL ROLE - REPORT

It has been reported that Manchester United 'had approached' Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, in order to discuss possible successors for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Speculation over Dutchman Ten Hag's future is rampant as he struggles to continue playing for the Red Devils in what has been a turbulent season. Although he has a contract with Manchester United that expires in 2025, other coaches are expected to take over in the summer.

According to Georg Holzner of Kicker, United has already spoken with Tuchel and may be able to provide the former Chelsea coach with a way out of the Bundesliga. The German, who joined Bayern in March 2023, is expected to depart at the end of the current season.

Bayern Munich Eyeing Former Manager As Thomas Tuchel Replacement: Reports

According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a part-owner of United, is eager to sign Tuchel as he wants to reorganize his team in time for the 2024–2025 campaign. The 50-year-old owns two Ligue 1 titles, the Bundesliga, and a Champions League trophy. After overcoming Arsenal, he recently advanced with Bayern to this year's UCL semi-finals.

But Tuchel's team did give up the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, who won the championship one month ahead of the season's last gameweek. After his team barely defeated Coventry City to get to the FA Cup final at Wembley, Ten Hag faced more criticism, but he nevertheless commended his team's perseverance for crossing the finish line.

In Sunday's semi-final, United was up 3-0 before the hour, but the Championship team managed to force extra time and lost only on penalties. Man Utd's last opportunity to win a trophy this season is in the FA Cup, but they will need to defeat Manchester City, the defending champions, to succeed.
