NO TAKERS FOR PAKISTAN CRICKET? PCB FORCED TO SELL BROADCASTING RIGHTS FOR HALF OF REGULAR PRICE: REPORT

Pakistan are currently taking on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. While this is an extremely important series for Shan Masood's men, the surprising thing is that the series is not being telecast and streamed in India. After this several reports stated that there were no takers for the international broadcast of the Pakistan vs England series that is scheduled to take place in October. After both these jolts, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received another bad news regarding the broadcast rights.

According to a report by PTI, the PCB has sold the rights for their international home matches between August 2024 to December 2026 for nearly half of its reserve price. While the initial price was PKR 3.2 billion, the PCB sold the Pakistani region rights for their international matches for PKR 1.72 billion, which is a whopping PKR 1.48 billion less.

However, the PCB has stated that rights were sold at more than twice the amount from the previous rights cycle (FTP 2021 to 2024).

The PCB sold its broadcasting rights for a 28-month period from Pakistani consortium of ARY and Tower Sports. The PCB said that the rights were sold "following a transparent tender process".

The rights are for 11 Tests, including seven in the 2024-25 season, 26 ODIs and 24 T20Is.

Sky Sports Did Not Bid For Pakistan Vs England Series Broadcasting Rights: Report

According to a report by The Guardian, Pakistan's three-match home test series against England which is set to begin on October 7 might have no takers for its overseas rights. This is because Sky Sports have reportedly announced that they would not be bidding for the telecast rights of this series.

Sky Sports have traditionally broadcasted all of England's home and away series including their 3-0 Test series whitewash vs Pakistan in 2022. I addition TNT Sport have also decided not to partake in the bid.
