INDIA MAKE BIG CHANGE IN SQUAD FOR ZIMBABWE SERIES; CSK STAR REPLACES INJURED ALL-ROUNDER

Just 48 hours after announcing the squad for the tour of Zimbabwe, India have been forced to make a big change in the 15-man squad which will be captained by Shubman Gill as uncapped Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the series due to an injury.

This has meant that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have been forced to look to look into squad currently playing the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and Shivam Dube will now make the trip to the African nation after intially being given a rest for the series.

"The Men’s Selection Committee named Shivam Dube as replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Nitish Reddy’s progress," BCCI said in a statement.

Shivam Dube has been part of India's playing XI in all six games so far in the T20 World Cup and has made a total of 106 runs in six innings with an average of 26.50 and strike-rate of 107.07. While some have questioned his place in the XI, he is most likely set to feature in the semi-final against England in Guyana on Thursday (June 27).

Nitish is an exciting talent as a genuine pace-bowling all-rounder and has been enmarked as a successor to Hardik Pandya as a pace-bowling all-rounder, who can bat in the middle order. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won the emerging player award in the 2024 IPL with 303 runs and three wickets to his name. However, he will have to now wait longer for his debut with the Indian team.
