BREAKING NEWS LIVE: TEAM INDIA RETURNS HOME AFTER ICC T20 WORLD CUP VICTORY

Rohit Sharma's Team India landed in New Delhi on Thursday after departing from Barbados following Hurricane Beryl. The team returned home victorious after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean, defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final at Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The team had been stranded in Barbados for three days due to the category-four hurricane. They flew back to India on a special charter flight arranged by Air India, named Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC). The flight left Grantley Adams International Airport at 4:50 a.m. local time and arrived in New Delhi at around 6:20 a.m. IST.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized the charter flight for the players, support staff, their families, board officials, and members of the media who were also stuck in Barbados. BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that Indian journalists, BCCI president Roger Binny, and secretary Jay Shah were on the same flight.

Upon arrival, the team received a warm welcome. Later, they are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at 11 a.m. After a breakfast session with the PM, the team will head to Mumbai. There, they will participate in a road show from Nariman Point in an open bus, followed by a felicitation event at the Wankhede Stadium.
