EXPLOSIVES FOUND IN CAR NEAR TRUMP LONG ISLAND RALLY ‘FALSE’, SAY POLICE

Police officials have confirmed that there is “no validity” to reports claiming explosives were discovered near the site of former President Donald Trump’s rally in Long Island.

A spokesperson for the Nassau County Police Department addressed the rumors on Wednesday, shortly before the event was scheduled to take place at the Nassau Coliseum.

Earlier, reports had inaccurately suggested that an explosive device was found in a car during security checks near the Trump rally location. However, police clarified that these claims were unfounded.

In a statement shared on Twitter, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder stated, "Reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned, who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is being detained by the police."

Earlier, there were reports that explosives were discovered near Trump's rally on Wednesday, adding to concerns following two assassination attempts he faced within a month. This incident comes just three days after an alleged assassin was arrested at his Palm Beach golf club.

According to reports, the perimeter of the rally site was breached, leading to the removal of a blue barrel from a vehicle during a security sweep and that the driver of that vehicle reportedly fled into the woods. A K9 unit discovered the explosive during this morning’s sweep prior to the event, raising further alarms about the safety measures in place.

Trump has ramped up his campaign efforts for the November 5 Presidential elections, primarily shifting to indoor events since the first assassination attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. During that incident, he was shot in the right ear by would-be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed at the scene.

Just two months later, another security scare occurred when a gunman brandishing an AK-47 targeted Trump while he was at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach on Sunday. The Republican nominee was swiftly escorted to safety as Secret Service agents returned fire at the suspect, who was equipped with a GoPro camera and a backpack alongside his rifle. These alarming incidents have significantly heightened concerns about Trump's safety as he continues his campaign.
