DRAMATIC VIDEO SHOWS NYPD OFFICERS RESCUING WOMAN FROM A LEDGE OF 54-STORY BUILDING

The New York Police Department (NYPD) Special Ops detectives saved a 'distraught' woman by climbing over a glass wall on the edge of a 54-story building in Manhattan last week. The department posted the video of the rescue operation on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, and were praised for the 'valiant effort'.

The incident took place last Wednesday, at about 3:10 PM local time, when the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit (ESU) reported to an incident on East 29th Street in Manhattan. The 33-year-old woman was reportedly preparing to jump from the ledge of the 54-floor building.

The video posted on Monday, a bodycam footage, shows ESU team members were separated from the woman by a glass divider. They had to deploy a rope and reach her, the New York Post reported. They held onto the woman’s left arm through a slight opening of the seven-foot high barriers.

The clip then cuts to an officer tethered to a rope jumping over the glass wall to join his team member who is already with the woman. The two then hold her above the glass wall. Officers on the other side grab her. "You're OK," one of them can be heard saying.
