ALLIANCE AIR FLIGHT MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING IN KOLKATA AFTER PILOT COMPLAINED OF COCKPIT DISPLAY SCREEN SNAG

KOLKATA: A Rourkella bound Alliance Air flight carrying capacity passengers from Bhubaneshwar made an emergency landing at Kolkata airport on Thursday evening after the pilot complained of some issues in the display screen at the aircraft’s cockpit.

The glitch was noticed around 4.45pm on Thursday when the aircraft was flying above Kolkata sky as the pilots sought permission from the Kolkata ATC for priority landing in Kolkata.

Following the Air Traffic Control’s permission, the flight 9I 745 landed at Kolkata. All 67 passengers boarded the aircraft as it was taxied to parking bay no 27 and engineers began repair works.

“There was a technical fault which surfaced while the aircraft was in the air. The pilots were quick to identify it and brought it to Kolkata airport as Rourkella airport doesn’t have an engineering base. The aircraft is under repair,” said a senior official of Alliance Air.

The official said the passengers were given the option of a full refund or fly out of Kolkata in another flight on Friday. “Majority of passengers chose the first option, took the refund and went out on their own,” said the official.
