‘UNDER GUIDANCE OF PM MODI, NITISH KUMAR…’: TEJASHWI YADAV AFTER FIFTH BRIDGE COLLAPSE IN BIHAR

Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav in a sarcastic jibe at the Nitish Kumar-led government National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar, said that “the double power of the double engine government” has led to “only five bridges collapsing”.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Yadav wrote, "Congratulations! Due to the double power of the double engine government in Bihar, only and only five bridges have collapsed in just nine days. The double engine NDA government of six parties, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has sent auspicious and bright wishes of Mangalraj to the people of Bihar on the collapse of five bridges in nine days."

The latest incident was reported from the Bheja police station area of Madhubani district, situated in the state’s northern end bordering Nepal.

"The self-proclaimed honest people are calling the thousands of crores of rupees being lost by the public due to the collapse of bridges as “courtesy” rather than “corruption”," he added.

"Why don't the truthful and incorruptible leaders, certified by the world champion Godi media as those who distribute orange certificates of corruption to the Opposition and are number one in all the rankings of partisan journalism open their mouths on these good governance feats?" he said.

He further asked Opposition leaders to resign from their positions as well. “Opposition leaders should resign after bridges are submerged in water,” he said.

In the past 10 days, four other bridges have reportedly collapsed in Bihar. A major portion of a 182-metre newly-constructed bridge at Sikti in Bihar’s Araria district collapsed last Tuesday. Another bridge, constructed at least 30 years ago, collapsed in Bihar’s Siwan district making it the second such incident in a week.

The third incident was reported from Ghorasahan block in Motihari, East Champaran district, where an under-construction small bridge collapsed, news agency PTI reported.

Further, a bridge caved in at the Kishangaj district this Thursday in the fourth incident of its kind in Bihar in just over a week, officials told news agency PTI.  No casualties were reported in these incidents.
