WEATHER UPDATE: IMD PREDICTS HEAVY RAINFALL IN NORTHEAST AND NORTHWEST INDIA; FRESH WESTERN DISTURBANCE IN HIMALAYAN REGION – CHECK FULL FORECAST

Light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity over northwest and northeast India from March 29 to 31 with the possibility of isolated heavy falls over the western Himalayan region on March 29 and 30 are expected, the latest weather bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned. 

Due to a cyclonic circulation over Bihar and another over south Assam, isolated to scattered rainfall/snowfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura today.

Meanwhile, wet spells are expected over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha, and Sikkim from March 30 to April 3, 2024. Bihar and Jharkhand will receive isolated light to moderate rainfall for the next few days.

Fresh western disturbance in hilly regions 

Due to a fresh western disturbance over the western Himalayan region, widespread light rainfall and snowfall are predicted over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand till March 31. 

Isolated hailstorms are also likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next few days. Further, isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh until April 1. 

Delhi sees partly cloudy day 

The national capital on Thursday recorded a minimum temperature of 21.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s average, as per IMD. Delhi generally saw cloudy skies during the day with the maximum temperature settling around 37 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the “moderate” category with a reading of 145 at 9 am, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
