WEATHER TODAY: DELHI-NCR DRENCHED! IMD PREDICTS HEAVY DOWNPOUR IN HARYANA, HIMACHAL AND SEVERAL OTHER STATES – FULL MONSOON UPDATES HERE

Delhi-NCR has been drenched with steady rainfall since early morning, thanks to the monsoon that is further north than usual and also a cyclonic circulation over Himachal Pradesh! Additionally, there’s a low-pressure area stretching from southeast Pakistan to Bangladesh. This means we’re in for a pretty wet spell across Northwest and Central India over the next five days. So people can expect light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, the latest India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin says.

Heavy Rainfall in THESE states:

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and East Rajasthan from July 4th to July 8th. Madhya Pradesh may also receive heavy downpour today. East and Northeast India aren’t missing out on the action either. Expect similar rain and thunderstorms over the next five days, with heavy rainfall hitting the Andaman & Nicobar Islands today and tomorrow.

Heavy rains have caused major rivers in Manipur, like the Imphal, Thoubal, and Iril, as well as rivers in Arunachal Pradesh, to rise above the danger level as of July 3rd. Because of what’s being called the second major flood in less than a month, Manipur has declared a two-day holiday for schools. Unfortunately, there’s been one reported death and another person is missing in Senapati district.

India saw significant rainfall on July 3rd from morning to late afternoon in many places across West Bengal and Odisha, a few spots in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Konkan & Goa, and Kerala & Mahe, and isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka.

Stay dry and safe out there!
