Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its latest weather update, indicating shifts in the monsoon trough's position. The western end of the trough is currently situated north of its usual location, while the eastern end has moved southward. Additionally, a depression that was affecting Jharkhand and parts of north Chhattisgarh has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area. As the monsoon season nears its end, the IMD has not issued any alerts for heavy rainfall across India for September 19 and 20.
In Kolkata, residents can expect rain until September 22, whereas Mumbai is forecasted to experience downpours until September 24.

The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh up to September 25. There is also a chance of isolated heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh on September 24 and in East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from September 22 to 24.
In Northwest India, light rainfall is expected until September 24. The IMD has warned of isolated very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on September 24.
For the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the IMD has forecast fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall. Similarly, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura can expect scattered to widespread light to moderate rain until September 25.
The IMD’s bulletin from September 18 indicates fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Konkan and Goa. Other regions are likely to see isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall throughout the week.
In Delhi, a generally cloudy sky is anticipated with light rain and thunderstorms. Strong winds may reach speeds of 25-35 km/h during the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will be close to 20 degrees Celsius. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an air quality index (AQI) of 63, categorising it as satisfactory.
A nowcast warning has been issued for light to moderate rainfall in Delhi and the NCR over the next hour, with wet conditions expected in several areas including Gannaur, Baraut and Greater Noida.
