Darbhanga: A massive fire broke out at a wedding pandal in Bihar’s Darbhanga district, leaving six people dead, along with three cows said cops on Friday. The incident occurred in Alinagar in Bahera police station area around 11:15 pm on Thursday.

As per the cops, the fire broke out after the pandal caught fire due to the bursting of firecrackers. Police suspected that inflammables were kept inside the pandal which ignited the fire even more spreading rapidly.

The deceased are identified as Sunil Paswan (26), Lila Devi (23), Kanchan Devi (26), Siddhanth Kumar (4), Shashank Kumar (3) and Sakshi Kumari (5).

District Magistrate Rajeev Roshan said, "I have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the district administration is providing full support to the families of the victims following disaster management guidelines."

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jagunath Reddy stated that fire tenders were dispatched promptly upon receiving information about the blaze. He added, "The fire was eventually brought under control. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations."
