SOUTHWEST MONSOON COVERED ENTIRE INDIA 6 DAYS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE, SAYS IMD - CHECK FULL WEATHER FORECAST

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday announced that the southwest monsoon has covered the entire country, which is six days before the scheduled time. On July 2, the monsoon further advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.

"The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab today, the 2nd July 2024. Thus, it has covered the entire country on 2nd July 2024, against the normal date of 08th July (6 days before the normal date of covering the entire India)," the IMD said.

Meanwhile, cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Pakistan and the monsoon trough is north of its normal position at mean sea level. under the influence of this weather phenomenon, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, and lightning is very likely over Northwest and Central India during the next five days.

"Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad 04th –06th, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during 02nd06th; West Rajasthan on 03rd; Madhya Pradesh during 02nd – 04th July and Chhattisgarh on 02nd & 03rd July," the IMD stated.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Uttarakhand till July 6, over Punjab on July 3, over Haryana till July 3, over West Uttar Pradesh on July 2 and 6 and over East Uttar Pradesh on July 5 and 6.

Rainfall is also predicted over the east and northeast regions. "Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 02nd - 06th; Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 04th & 05th; Gangetic West Bengal on 03rd & 04th, Jharkhand during 02nd – 04th; Odisha on 06th July," the weather agency said.

"Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over Bihar on 02nd & 03rd; Arunachal Pradesh & Assam & Meghalaya during 02nd – 04th; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during 02nd – 05th July," it added. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on July 5 and 6.

Rainfall is also predicted over west and southern India. "Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning very likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Gujarat State; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Interior Karnataka; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Rayalaseema, Telangana during next 5 days," the MeT Department said.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is predicted over Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on July 2 and 6. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch on Tuesday, over the Gujarat region on July 3 and over coastal Karnataka on July 5 and 6.

Meanwhile, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over the Gujarat Region on Tuesday.
