PETROL DIESEL PRICE TODAY SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 IN MUMBAI, HYDERABAD, ALLAHABAD AND KOLKATA

Oil prices continued to rise on Tuesday as concerns over US production given Hurricane Francine aftermath situation and expectations of lower US crude inventories. Brent crude futures for November recorded a 16-cent hike, or 0.2% reaching $72.91 per barrel whereas US crude futures for October were up by 34 cents or 0.5% to $70.43 per barrel, as per a Reuters report. All yes remains to be fixed at the US Federal Reserve’s decision related to interest rate cuts. A deduction in rates can decrease borrowing costs, resulting in boosting oil demand and reviving economic growth.

According to Sriram Iyer, Senior Research Analyst at Reliance Securities, ”Concern about Chinese fuel demand after Monday’s weaker-than-expected Chinese economic reports capped upside in crude. Looking ahead from an intraday perspective, NYMEX and Brent crude oil prices have started marginally higher this early Tuesday morning in Asian trading buoyed by signs of declining supply from Libya.”

Meanwhile, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the central government for the hike in fuel prices. He pointed out in a post on X that although crude oil prices have declined by roughly 21% over the last six months in the global market, domestic petrol and diesel prices have not been lowered. On the other hand, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien also shared the same concerns and questioned the government as to why the prices in India continue to increase despite a 24% decline in global crude oil prices.

Consumers continue to bear the brunt of the high fuel prices in India. Here’s the list of the revised petrol and diesel prices in India:
