MAJOR TRAIN DISRUPTIONS: NORTHERN RAILWAY CANCELS AND DIVERTS SERVICES DUE TO DERAILMENT NEAR VRINDAVAN ROAD STATION

The Northern Railway has announced the cancellation of three trains and the alteration of routes for 26 express and mail trains following the derailment of a freight train near Vrindavan Road Station in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on September 18 between the Palwal and Mathura sections, affecting a significant number of rail services.

Derailment Details and Impact

According to Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for Northern Railway, the derailment involved 25 coal-loaded wagons blocking three rail lines between Vrindavan Road and Ajhai Station on the Mathura Junction-Palwal section of the Agra Division. As a result, only one line is currently available for rail traffic, leading to widespread disruption.

The affected trains include key routes such as the New Delhi-Hyderabad Express, New Delhi-Tambaram Express, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mumbai Bandra Terminus, Amritsar Junction-Mumbai Bandra Terminus, Hazrat Nizamuddin-Mumbai CSM Terminus, and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jabalpur, among others. Passengers traveling on these routes are advised to check the latest updates on their train’s running status and routes before their journey to avoid inconvenience.

Railway officials are working diligently to clear the blocked lines and restore normal services as quickly as possible. The Northern Railways has urged travelers to stay informed about any changes and cancellations to their train services during this period of disruption.
