IN VIDEOS: HEAVY RAIN BRINGS DELHI-NCR TO STANDSTILL; WATERLOGGING, SUSPENDED FLIGHTS, AND MORE
Heavy rain has been reported from different parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday morning. The India Meteorological Department predicts that moderate to intense rain will persist in Delhi for the next few hours.
The downpour has caused widespread waterlogging, leaving many residential areas without power. Flooded roads resulted in chaotic traffic conditions.

ANI shared a video of a car submerged in heavy rain near Minto Road, with water covering it up to the windows. Reacting to the video, one user said, “If Delhi's Minto Bridge is flooded with water and a video of a vehicle stuck in it comes, then understand that the monsoon has arrived.” Another user wrote, “Isn't it the story of Minto road every year?”
ANI also shared a video of Azad Market underpass which shows passengers being rescued from a bus stuck there due to severe waterlogging.
X user @cricketaakash shared a video of him crossing water-logged areas of Delhi's Ring Road in an auto. He captioned the video, “Good morning, Delhi. Feels like Venice. Gondolas Missing Also…missed my flight thanks to 120 min jam on the ring-road.”
From buses to cars being completely submerged, bringing Delhi to a standstill, ANI also shared drone visuals from the area near All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). In the video, people can also be seen walking through knee-deep water.
In a video shared on X by the official handle of the Delhi Police, officers were seen pushing a broken-down vehicle on Anuvrat Marg due to waterlogging. They also removed an uprooted tree caused by heavy rains to ease traffic congestion.
In another alarming incident, at least one person died and eight others were injured early Friday when a section of the roof at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1 collapsed on parked cars. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) responded with multiple fire tenders for rescue operations. According to PTI, officials reported that one person might be trapped under the debris. The incident happened amid heavy rainfall in the national capital.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, the Safdarjung base station recorded 228.1 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 8.30 am Friday. From 2.30 am to 5.30 am, the Safdarjung station recorded 148.5 mm of rainfall.
