ED FILES AFFIDAVIT AGAINST ARVIND KEJRIWAL'S PLEA CHALLENGING ARREST: '173 PHONES DESTROYED'

The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court against jailed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest in the alleged money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor policy case.

In the affidavit, the probe agency claimed that the Chief Minister was arrested following a "large-scale" destruction of evidence including destruction of around 170 mobile phones during the period of the 'scam' and when the irregularities came out in public.

The affidavit also highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief had been evading interrogation, despite being summoned nine times by the investigating officer.

"Arvind Kejriwal's arrest ensued after he repeatedly ignored Enforcement Directorate summonses and failed to obtain protection from the Delhi High Court," the affidavit read.
