DELHI-GHAZIABAD-MEERUT RRTS CORRIDOR: 80-KM SECTION OF NAMO BHARAT CONSTRUCTED, 2 KM REMAIN – CHECK LATEST UPDATES HERE

The construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor has reached 80 kilometers of its total 82-kilometer length, officials announced on Thursday (July 25). This includes 68 kilometers of the 70-kilometer elevated section and 12 kilometers of the underground section. Currently, only a two-kilometer stretch in Meerut remains for viaduct construction, which is nearing completion. 

“The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor has constructed 80 km section out of the total 82 km. This includes 68 km of the 70 km elevated section and 12 km of the underground section. Presently, only a two km section in Meerut remains for viaduct construction, which is being rapidly completed. The construction of stations is also progressing swiftly,” they said.

RRTS operational on 34 km section

There will be 25 stations on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor. The Namo Bharat trains have commenced operations on the 34-kilometer section from Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North in Ghaziabad, covering eight RRTS stations. The addition of Meerut South RRTS station will soon extend the operational length of the corridor to 42 kilometers.

Delhi section of RRTS Corridor 

In Delhi, the RRTS corridor spans 14 kilometers, with a nine-kilometer elevated section and a five-kilometer underground segment. 

Key stations in the Delhi section, including Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar, are nearing completion, with trial runs expected to start by year-end. The viaduct construction up to Sarai Kale Khan is complete, and work on track laying and overhead electrification (OHE) is ongoing.

“The RRTS stations in the Delhi section include Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar, all of which are in the final stages of construction. It is estimated that trial runs will begin on the Delhi section by the end of this year. The viaduct construction for the elevated section in Delhi has been completed up to Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station, where track laying and overhead electrification (OHE) installation are in progress,” they said.

Meerut section of RRTS Corridor 

The 23-kilometer Meerut section will feature four RRTS and nine Meerut metro stations. The seven-kilometer underground segment includes Meerut Central, Bhainsali, and Begumpul stations, which are in advanced stages of construction. 

Elevated stations in Meerut will include Meerut South (RRTS), Partapur, Rithani, Shatabdi Nagar, Brahmpuri, MES Colony, Daurli, Meerut North, and Modipuram, with Modipuram Depot station at ground level.

With viaduct construction in Meerut approaching completion, track laying and OHE installation are progressing swiftly. 

Complete RRTS Corridor to be completed by 2025

The target is to launch Namo Bharat train operations across the entire 82-kilometer RRTS Corridor by 2025, allowing passengers to travel from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut in under an hour.
