CUET UG 2024 CANDIDATES AWAIT ANSWERS AMIDST DELAYED RESULTS – A STUDENT PERSPECTIVE

As the results of the CUET UG 2024 examinations remain delayed, frustration and anxiety among candidates are palpable. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has yet to provide an official confirmation regarding the release of the results or the answer key, leaving over 13.4 lakh students in a state of uncertainty.

“It’s almost as if we’re stuck in an interminable state of uncertainty,” said Priya Sharma, a hopeful applicant to Delhi University. “We dedicated months to preparation, poured our hearts into the exams, and yet here we are, caught in this frustrating and stress-inducing limbo,” she added.

Social media platforms, especially Twitter, have become the battleground for students to voice their concerns. Tweets with hashtags like #ReleaseCUETResults and #NTADeclareResults are flooding the platform, reflecting the collective anxiety and demand for clarity. One student tweeted, “I’ve dedicated countless hours to CUET UG, working tirelessly day and night. However, now that it’s time for the results, all I encounter is an error page and silence from the testing agency, despite giving my best effort.”

NEET PG postponement adds to uncertainty

University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, attempted to soothe the frayed nerves by stating, “NTA is working on it and will announce the results date soon.” However, this assurance has done little to calm the growing unrest.

The delay in CUET UG results is compounded by other exam-related controversies. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024, originally scheduled for June 23, was postponed by the Health Ministry as a “precautionary measure” just a day before the exam. This abrupt postponement has only added to the uncertainty and stress among students.

“Why are these irregularities happening? We need a system we can trust,” questioned Maira Mustafa, a CUET UG candidate. Her sentiments echo the broader frustration among students who are caught in a cycle of delays and indefinite waiting periods.

The CUET UG 2024 exam was conducted from May 15-29. The CUET UG results are essential for admission to central universities, including Delhi University (DU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in the national capital.

On June 23, the NTA announced that the CUET provisional answer key would likely be released within the week. Following this, the agency expects to take “a week to 10 days” to release the final results. Although the NTA’s information bulletin had initially set June 30 as the result date for CUET UG 2024, a senior official from the NTA indicated that this deadline is unlikely to be met given the current circumstances.

As the days go by, the pressure on the NTA continues to mount. Students are not just asking for their results; they are demanding transparency and accountability. The student community’s call for action is clear: timely release of results and clear communication from the authorities. Only then can the uncertainty be lifted, allowing these young aspirants to move forward with their academic and career plans.
