CENTRE DISCHARGES PUJA KHEDKAR FROM IAS, DAYS AFTER UPSC CANCELLED HER CANDIDATURE

New Delhi: The Centre has formally discharged former trainee IAS Puja Khedkar from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), days after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) cancelled her candidature for the Civil Services Exam (CSE). Through an order on September 6, the Centre discharged the former Maharashtra cadre, 2023 trainee officer.

"Vide Order dated 6th September 2024 the Central Government discharges Ms Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar, IAS Probationer (MH:2023), from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) under Rule 12 of IAS (Probation) Rules, 1954, with immediate effect," the order stated.

Earlier, the Delhi police said that the disability certificate that former trainee IAS Puja Khedkar submitted to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was fake. In its status report to the Delhi High Court, the police said that during further investigation and on scrutiny of documents provided by UPSC, it was revealed that the applicant submitted two Disability Certificates (Multiple Disability) purported to be issued by Issuing Medical Authority, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

However, the police said that on verification of the certificate, the Issuing Medical Authority said no such certification has been issued from their side.

"Disability Certificate (Multiple Disability) vide No. MH2610119900342407 has not been issued by the Issuing Medical Authority, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra as per our Civil Surgeon Office Records, hence the possibility of Disability Certificate forged and fabricated is more likely," the issuing authority said, as quoted by Delhi police in the status report.

The police said when they approached the Maharashtra government, they too denied issuing such certificate under her name.
