ASSAM FLOODS: MAN RISKS LIFE TO RESCUE CALF FROM DROWNING, VIDEO GOES VIRAL

The flood crisis in Assam has reached critical levels, resulting in 52 fatalities, and impacting approximately 21.13 lakh individuals across 29 districts in the state. Amidst the havoc caused by the floods in Assam, numerous alarming videos have surfaced on social media. One particularly viral video shows a local man risking his life to rescue a calf, struggling in neck-deep water.

The video was shared by @voiceofaxom on X, with a caption saying, “The flood situation in Assam has worsened | A resident from Duliajan, Assam, risks his life to rescue a drowning calf.”

In the video, the man is seen clinging to the calf trapped under an uprooted tree, floating in the floodwater. A long bamboo stick is placed in front of them, which he grasps to pull himself and the calf forward. Eventually, they reach the shore, and bystanders assist in rescuing the calf.

The video garnered over 26K views and many X users have reacted to it. One said, “Love can do this..” Another user wrote, “Such a disheartening situation.” And a third user wrote, “God bless you!”

As major rivers like Brahmaputra, Digaru, and Kollong surged beyond danger levels, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has personally inspected flood-hit areas in Guwahati, pledging comprehensive relief and assistance to affected communities, said a PTI report. Villagers in Northeast India navigate inundated areas on boats amid widespread floods, landslides, and relentless rainfall.

Floodwaters engulfed the Kaziranga National Park. Efforts are underway to rescue stranded wildlife; 11 animals have been declared lost and 65 have been rescued so far.
