While in Varanasi to offer prayers at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and extend an invitation for her son Anant's wedding, the pretty would-be mother-in-law Nita Ambani took the opportunity to indulge in local delights. She enjoyed the famed Banarasi chaat and made a significant stop at a weaver’s store to purchase saris for the upcoming nuptials.
In her visit to the weaver Vijay Maurya’s home in the Ramnagar district, she observed the intricate process of sari making on the handloom. Nita was captivated by the exquisite embroidery and craftsmanship. Earlier, she had invited several Banarasi businesspeople and artisans to her hotel, where she reviewed and selected saris. She placed orders with multiple weavers, showcasing her deep appreciation for their artistry.
Angika Kushwaha, a PhD in textile and a sari manufacturer from Ramnagar, mentioned that Nita Ambani selected their 'Lakkha Buti' sari, crafted using the traditional 'kadhua technique' and featuring one lakh butis. Angika’s father, Amresh Kushwaha, chairman of the UP Industrial Cooperative Association, confirmed that Nita Ambani purchased over a hundred saris from various weavers for the wedding.
