KARNATAKA MILK FEDERATION ISSUES CLARIFICATION AFTER ANDHRA CM ALLEGES ANIMAL FAT IN TIRUPATI LADDU

The Karnataka Milk Federation on September 19 issued a clarification after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that animal fat was used in making Tirupati laddus during the YSRCP regime.

The Tirupati Laddu prasadam is given at the revered Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, which is run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The Karnataka Milk Federation clarified that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board has not purchased ghee (clarified butter) from them for the last four years, News18 reported. It added that it began supplying Nandhini Ghee for Tirupati laddus only after Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) came to power in Andhra Pradesh.

While Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRC party has denied the allegations levelled by the Andhra CM, TDP sources told News18 that they will release proof to confirm that animal fat was used to make the consecrated sweets.

The controversy erupted after Chandrababu Naidu alleged a day ago that under Jagan Reddy’s government animal fat and substandard ingredients were used to prepare the Tirupati laddus.

Speaking at a NDA legislature party meet, he said, “Even Tirumala laddoo was made with substandard ingredients…they used animal fat instead of ghee.”

He added that the quality of prasadam, has however, improved now, with pure ghee being used to prepare the sweets.

Senior YSRCP leader and former TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy termed Naidu's allegation as "malicious" and said that the TDP supremo would "stoop to any level for political gain".

“His comments about the Tirumala prasadam are extremely malicious. No person would speak such words or make such accusations,” said Subba Reddy in a post on X.
