GOLD, SILVER, CASH WORTH RS 4 CRORE RECOVERED FROM TRAIN AT NEW DELHI STATION

The Railway Police Force (RPF) has seized gold, silver and cash worth Rs 4 crore from a train at New Delhi railway station, officials said on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, the RPF seized the items on September 5.

The RPF received a tip-off from one of its informers that large amounts of cash, gold and silver were being brought illegally on the Mumbai Rajdhani Poorva Express. Following this, the parcel coach was thoroughly checked after the train arrived at the New Delhi railway station.

Upon checking the parcel coach, the RPF recovered a total of 24 items, including Rs 85 lakh in cash, gold worth Rs 38 lakh and 365 kgs of silver, officials added.

The RPF informed the Income Tax Department about the seizure, who then launched an investigation into the matter.

So far, no information on the source of the stash of precious metals and the cash or who it belongs to has been shared by the authorities.
