CARLYLE GROUP DUMPS YES BANK SHARES YET AGAIN, OFFLOADS 2.2% STAKE

A block deal involving 63.60 crore shares, representing around 2.2 percent stake of Yes Bank changed hands on the exchanges on May 3. The deal, executed at an average price of Rs 25 apiece, took the total transaction value to Rs 1,602 crore.

Shares of Yes Bank traded flat following the block deal and at 09.25 am were trading at Rs 25.50 on the NSE.

While Moneycontrol could not immediately identify the parties involved in the transaction, CNBC-TV18 had reported on May 2 that the private equity investor the Carlyle Group was eyeing to offload a 2 percent stake in the company.

As per the private lender's latest shareholding data, Carlyle owned a 8.74 percent stake in Yes Bank (post warrant conversion), held through its affiliate entity named CA Basque Investments.

This isn't the first time that the private equity investor has unleashed a stake sale in Yes Bank. In February this year, the Carlyle Group had sold a 1.35 percent stake in Yes Bank at Rs 27.10 per share, which earned it a total of Rs 1,056 crore.

Back in 2022, the Carlyle Group had picked up a 9.99 percent equity in Yes Bank.
