WHATSAPP TO NOTIFY USERS WHEN THEIR MEDIA UPLOAD FAILS, NEW FEATURE IN WORKS

WhatsApp is not just a messaging app for users across the globe but is also a popular platform for sharing photos and videos. The phrase "WhatsApp the pictures to me" is something that most of us use (or hear) whenever we go out with friends and family. We all also know that at the end of the day, the member with the best phone also gets the task of sharing all the media files with others via WhatsApp. Recently, WhatsApp allowed users to share photos in HD quality, further refining the experience. However, this can get pretty inconvenient at times as WhatsApp doesn't notify you in case your media upload fails or pauses in between. But here is some good news. WhatsApp is reportedly working on a fix for this problem.

A report in WA Beta Info says that WhatsApp is testing a new notification feature aimed at enhancing user experience by keeping users informed about the status of their media uploads. This feature, introduced in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.13.10.71, aims to notify users immediately if their media upload is paused or fails, without the need to open the app.

The new feature gives real-time updates on the status of media uploads. When an upload is interrupted due to connectivity issues or switching to another app, users will receive a notification indicating which image or video was affected. For example, the report mentions that a notification like "1 upload paused, open the app to resume sending" will alert users to the interruption, allowing them to take immediate action to resume the upload.

Earlier, users didn't often realise that their upload was paused or failed until they reopened WhatsApp, leading to delays in sharing important media. With this new system, users receive immediate alerts about any interruptions or failures in their uploads, ensuring they are always aware and can address such issues without delay.

This feature improves the overall file-sharing experience by ensuring users are continuously informed about their media uploads. It also supports background app refresh, which helps load messages faster and ensures smooth media uploads even when the app is not actively open.

The notification feature is currently available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. It is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks.
