IOS 18 UPDATE BUG CAUSES IMESSAGE CRASHES AND DATA LOSS; HERE'S HOW YOU CAN FIX IT
iOS 18 update is available for users all over the globe. While the update has brought some massive changes to the overall iPhone user experience, certain bugs are causing problems for users while using the iMessage. The bug, according to the 9To5Mac report, is causing the application to crash and the users also reported data loss. It is also worth mentioning that the bug affects both of the users.
In the most recent update, Apple added a functionality for the Watch that allows users to share the watch face over iMessage or Mail directly from watchOS. The new function aims to provide users with more control and personalisation. The iMessage problem is triggered when someone responds to the shared watch face in the thread.
When the user attempts to open the thread, the application typically crashes. Not just that, but discussing with people about the application while it crashes constantly. If the user responds to the thread about the shared watch face, the Messages app breaks. The issue occurs with the iOS 18.1 beta, iPadOS 18.1 beta, and macOS 15.1 beta.
But there’s a fix. To fix this problem, both users can delete the conversation thread from their iPhones. However, it will cost you the conversation history loss but if you have to use the iMessage without any problem, this can be the only fix unless Apple rolls out a new update with the fix. It also reportedly deletes attachments like Photos and Videos that were a part of iMessage.
If you try to restore the deleted thread from the recently deleted section in the application will also restore the bug. We expect that Apple will roll out the fix with a new update in the coming weeks. However, Apple has not acknowledged the issue yet.
