GEMINI AI NOW ROLLING OUT TO GMAIL: HERE IS HOW YOU CAN USE IT

Google has announced that Gemini, its advanced AI tool, is now available in the Gmail side panel on the web. This move follows the recent introduction of Gemini in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. The new addition will let you summarise email threads. Other than that, Gemini on Gmail will also suggest your responses. So you will not have to think about what to reply and how to reply.

Here are some of the key features

–Email Summarisation and Response Suggestions-- Gemini can summarise email threads, making it easier to catch up on long conversations. It also suggests responses, saving users time in crafting replies.

–Drafting Assistance-- For those needing help drafting emails, Gemini offers suggestions, helping users create professional and well-composed messages.

–Information Retrieval-- Users can ask Gemini to find specific information from their inbox or Google Drive. For example, you can ask, "What was the PO number for my agency?" or "When is the next team meeting?" Gemini will quickly fetch the needed information, allowing you to respond without leaving Gmail.

Starting today, Gemini is also available in the Gmail mobile app for Android and iOS. This includes features like analyzing email threads and providing summarised views with key highlights. This is particularly useful for users on the go, as it simplifies reading through long email threads on smaller screens.

Additional mobile features, such as Contextual Smart Reply and Gmail Q&A, will be introduced soon.

These new features are designed to improve productivity by helping users view, understand, and respond to emails more efficiently. Gemini's integration with other Google Workspace apps like Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive further enhances its utility. For instance, if you're planning a company offsite and need to provide hotel details from Google Doc, you can simply ask Gemini, "What is the hotel name and sales manager email listed in @Company Offsite 2024?" Gemini will retrieve the information, which you can then insert into your email response.

Here is how you can enable Gemini AI

To enable Gemini, admins need to ensure that smart features and personalisation are turned on in the Admin console. Userscan access Gemini by clicking on the "Ask Gemini" star button in the top right corner of Gmail. On a mobile, Gemini can be accessed by tapping on the "summarise this email" chip in an email thread.

For web users, the rollout begins today, June 24, 2024, with full feature visibility expected within 1-3 days for Rapid Release domains and up to 15 days for Scheduled Release domains. For mobile users, the gradual rollout will take up to 15 days for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains.

Gemini is available for Google Workspace customers with specific add-ons: Gemini Business and Enterprise, Gemini Education and Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium.
