APPLE IPHONE WEATHER APP TO GET THESE TWO NEW FEATURES WITH IOS18

Apple's upcoming iOS 18 release will introduce significant updates to the iPhone’s built-in apps, including new features for the Weather app. These updates aim to improve the user experience by providing more relevant information and integrating data from other apps.

Temperature and feels like

The first major feature is the display of the actual and feels-like temperatures. Traditionally, weather apps ask users to choose between viewing the actual or the feels-like temperature.

In iOS 18, Apple's Weather app will present both temperatures prominently. The actual temperature will be shown in a large font, while the feels-like temperature will appear below it in a smaller font and a different colour.

Apple’s implementation is designed to show the feels-like temperature only when there is a significant difference between the two temperatures.. This prevents redundant data from cluttering the app and ensures that users are alerted to notable differences in temperature, making it more likely they will notice and consider this information.

Home and work locations

The second feature involves the integration of home and work locations. Apple Maps already uses the Contacts app to pull home and work addresses from a user’s contact card, simplifying routing in Maps. With iOS 18, this integration will extend to the Weather app. By default, users' home and work addresses will be added to their list of tracked weather locations. This change allows users to easily monitor weather conditions at these important locations without manually entering the addresses.

Rollout details

As already mentioned, the new features in the Weather app are a part of iOS 18 update. This means both of them will be available once the iOS 18 starts rolling out which is set to happen later this year, soon after iPhone 16 series launch.
