GOOGLE PIXEL 8A SPECS LEAKED AHEAD OF INDIA LAUNCH, ALL WE KNOW SO FAR

Google Pixel 8a is expected to launch this month and even though the tech giant is yet to give a release date for the smartphone, anticipation for the same is riding high. Earlier rumours had said that the smartphone could be unveiled as soon as this month, potentially during the Google I/O 2024 event slated to begin on May 14. Rumours also suggest that the launch could see the phone becoming available for pre-order in India and across the globe shortly thereafter.

Several specifications of the Pixel 8a have leaked online previously. In terms of design, leaked images have earlier hinted that the Pixel 8a will come with a familiar design, featuring a punch-hole display framed by rounded edges. Then, the right edge might house the volume and power buttons and the left side might be equipped with a SIM port. At the bottom, we might get to see a charging port. The back of the phone is expected to sport a distinctive camera module with a thick horizontal strap housing two sensors and an LED flash, aligning with Google's characteristic design language.

In the front, the phone is rumoured to be equipped with a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate. In terms of processor, the phone is expected to run on the Tensor G3 chipset, similar to the one used in the Google Pixel 8 series. The camera setup is expected to include a 64-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor at the rear, complemented by a 13-megapixel camera at the front for selfies.

On the software front, the device is expected to operate on Android 14 right out of the box, with Google promising up to seven years of Android and security updates. The Pixel 8a is also speculated to feature a 4,500mAh battery supported by 27W fast charging. Additional features could include wireless charging and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone is also expected to have a suite of AI features like Circle to Search, Live Translate, Magic Eraser, and Audio Magic Eraser, underscoring Google's focus on integrating advanced technology to enhance user experience.

In terms of price, the Pixel 8a is projected to be slightly more expensive than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. In India, the new model could start at approximately Rs 45,000, marking an increase of Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. Internationally, the price points are expected to be around $499 for the 128GB version and $559 for the 256GB version, which translates to about Rs 41,600 and Rs 46,600 respectively. The phone might also come in four colour options, including Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint. A previous leak from Evan Blass had said that the tech giant might also launch colour-coordinated cases for the phone, so that users can choose accordingly.
