WATCH: CELINE DION MAKES SURPRISE APPEARANCE AT HOCKEY EVENT AMID HEALTH BATTLE

During the 2024 NHL Draft on June 28, Montreal Canadiens brought Celine Dion to the stage to announce their fifth overall draft pick.

Dion, introduced by Montreal's general manager Kent Hughes as "our No. 1 fan," revealed that the team selected Ivan Demidov, an 18-year-old Russian player. This came as a surprise because the musician had been on a hiatus following her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis. Celine had sent her fans into a frenzy when she showed up at the Grammys this year to announce and present the award for Album of the Year.

Dion's dramatic pause before the announcement was noted as "the most dramatic draft announcement of all time" by NHL announcers.

Dion was accompanied by her 23-year-old son Rene-Charles Dion Angelil, also known as RC Angelil.

Recently, Celine Dion shared her struggles with Stiff Person Syndrome in her documentary 'I Am: Celine Dion', which premiered on Prime Video.

The documentary shows her battling painful spasms caused by the rare neurological disorder. Despite these challenges, reports suggest that the singer's comeback could be sooner than expected.
