SAMSUNG GALAXY WATCH 7 MAY DETECT EARLY SIGNS OF HEART ATTACK, STROKE AND DIABETES

Samsung is set to launch new smartwatch models alongside its next-generation foldable smartphones at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series models are rumoured to arrive with multiple new health features, including a blood glucose monitoring feature. Now, a new report claims that the upcoming smartwatch will also be able to track early signs of heart attack, stroke and diabetes.

Health features coming to Samsung Galaxy Watch 7: What to expect

According to a report by Android Authority, evidence of the company implementing an AGEs index for the Galaxy Watch 7 has been spotted in the latest version of the Samsung Health app. This may help the smartwatch model to offer tracking for cardiovascular and diabetes risk.

As per the report, the Samsung Health app also allowed activating the UI for the new feature called the AGEs index. The report also includes a screenshot where he AGEs index feature is marked as (Labs), which indicated that its in an experimental state.

The text in the screenshot mentions that Samsung Health will soon offer a way to track the user’s AGEs over time by creating an index of readings. This AGEs index will offer users a sense of their personal metabolic health (instead of a measurement number that would be difficult to contextualise) and will help them to learn more about their overall biological aging process.

What is AGEs Index

Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs) Index have been linked to a variety of chronic diseases that become more common with age, such as diabetes, kidney failure, and heart problems.

Diagnoptics (Samsung's supposed partner for measuring AGEs) has highlighted that these compounds play a key role in the development of these conditions, the report adds. Diagnoptics also suggested that AGEs can be used to predict the risk of diabetes, heart attack and stroke.

Its important to note that AGEs accumulate naturally with age, but their levels can be lowered through regular exercise. Diagnoptics also mentioned that many AGEs have a specific glow (fluorescence). This characteristic allows for non-invasive measurement of these compounds.

The report claims that the Galaxy Watch 7 series models may include a way to measure these AGEs optically and non-invasively. These readings are expected to then form the basis of the AGEs index and allow users to monitor their risk of certain diseases like diabetes without actively providing them with a measurement value.

This report also aligns with the rumours of “blood glucose monitoring” in Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 models that may provide indications of a risk of diabetes rather than actively monitoring your blood glucose levels. In five years, non-invasive glucose monitoring is likely to arrive in the market in “some form,” reports Bloomberg.

Also, the report couldn’t confirm if older Galaxy Watch models will support AGE features or if the he Galaxy Watch 7 will support continuous glucose monitoring.
