TRINAMOOL'S MUKUL ROY HOSPITALISED AFTER FALL IN BATHROOM, LOSING CONSCIOUSNESS

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after he fell in the bathroom at his house and lost unconsciousness, his son Subhrangshu Roy said on Thursday.

Mukul Roy injured his head after he slipped in the bathroom on Wednesday evening. He is stable but critical and a team of doctors had been formed to monitor him round the clock, an official from the hospital said.

The 70-year-old leader, who has been suffering from neurological ailments, also vomited before he lost consciousness.

"Necessary medical tests have been done and we are waiting for the reports to decide on the next course of treatment," the official told news agency PTI.

"Baba fell while going to the bathroom at home. He had a head injury. He vomited and fell unconscious. We took him to the hospital," Subhrangshu Roy said.

Mukul Roy, who has been suffering from dementia, is one of the founding members of the Trinamool Congress. He had joined the BJP in 2017 and had won from Krishnanagar Uttar seat in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly polls.

He, however, returned to the Trinamool Congress afterwards.
