'OLDBOY' TV SERIES IN WORKS FROM DIRECTOR PARK CHAN-WOOK

An English-language TV series based on Park Chan-wook's Oldboy is in works, which will be produced by Chan-wook himself, according to reports. 

Lionsgate Television and Park Chan-wook are collaborating for the aforementioned series. 

The original OldBoy released in cinemas in 2003 and revolves around a man who finds himself locked in an old hotel room for 15 years. Post his release, the protagonist ventures out on a thrilling quest to uncover the truth about what had happened and how he landed in the said room. 

Earlier, Scott Herbst, executive vice president and head of scripted development for Lionsgate Television, showered praise on director Park for his storytelling abilities. He also shared that the team would try their best to capture the essence of the original film which still has immense recall value, and is considered one of the most iconic movies of this century. 

Park Chan-wook is currently in news for his latest HBO series, The Sympathizer, which has been co-produced by Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr.
