TELANGANA GOVERNMENT FACES BACKLASH OVER PRABHAS’ KALKI 2898 AD TICKET PRICE

The advance booking for the much anticipated movie Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan, has begun nationwide. While excitement among the audience is sky high, the Telangana government is making headlines as they increased ticket prices and added additional screenings of the film. According to reports, the government has allowed a special 5:30 AM show on the first day at a higher rate of Rs 200 extra. On the other hand, the makers have also been granted permission to screen five shows for the first 8 days, between 27 June and 4 July, across all theatres in the state. While some are excited about the early screening, others are raising concerns and criticising the Telangana government for the inflated ticket prices.

An individual from the production house confirmed the news on X. According to the permit, the government has approved Rs 75 increase for single screen theatres and Rs 100 in multiplexes across the state for regular shows.

With such high ticket rates, the movie is expected to break major box office records within a week. Many shared their opinion about the impact of these prices and questioned if this is the right strategy. Others are worried about piracy, as increased prices may lead people to download the movie from illegal websites.

According to recent reports from 123 Telugu, Prabhas has been paid Rs 80 Crore for his role in the film.

Kalki 2898 AD is a science fiction action film written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Drawing inspiration from Hindu scriptures, the movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.

Other than Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, the upcoming movie also stars Disha Patani, Rajendra Prasad, Pasupathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Anna Ben and Chemban Vinod Jose, in key roles.
