'TUMBBAD' RE-RELEASE ADVANCE BOX OFFICE DAY 1: THE FILM LIKELY TO CLOCK IN RS 1 CRORE ON OPENING DAY

Sohum shah's 'Tumbbad' is set to re-release in theatres today, September 13. The film is clashing with Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer 'The Buckingham Murders'. This horror comedy, 'Tumbbad' starring Sohum Shah and also produced by him, did not make much money during its initial release six years ago. However, the movie achieved a cult status over the years and fans have been waiting for the seqeul. Meanwhile, the re-release may serve a treat for fans who seem excited. The advance bookings of the film look quite good.

There's a lot of buzz around the film's re-release. According to Pinkvilla, around 21,000 tickets of the movie are sold in the top three national chains for its opening day which is Friday. PVRINOX has sold around 15,000 tickets while 6000 tickets have been sold at Cinepolis. Around 1000 tickets have been sold under the MovieMax Chain. Thus, based on these advances, one can expect the film to have an opening of around Rs 1 crore. This number may increase during current bookings.

During an exclusive chat with ETimes, Sohum had confirmed 'Tumbbad 2'. He had said, "We are in the writing stage for ‘Tumbbad 2’. I don’t want to make something just for the sake of it, just because the first part has worked. I won’t be able to do anything till I’m satisfied with the story, or till I have something which lives up to the credibility. So, only once we finish writing, we shall decide. But I obviously want to make the second part, third part and so on!”

Meanwhile, the buzz around 'The Buckingam Murders' is very low.
