JUHI CHAWLA SAYS SHE REJECTED SHAH RUKH KHAN'S PROPOSAL OF KKR'S COLOUR SCHEME

Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan, a charismatic duo who have captivated audiences for decades, share a bond that extends far beyond the silver screen. Not only are they longtime co-stars, but they're also partners in business, co-owning the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a powerhouse team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a recent appearance at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry event, Juhi revealed a lighthearted disagreement with her friend Shah Rukh. Apparently, during the initial stages of setting up KKR, Shah Rukh favored a "black" color scheme for the team's jerseys. Juhi stated, "All I thought at the time was, ‘How nice that cricket and Hindi films are coming together’. Jai and Shah Rukh handled everything. It just came together. We didn’t know anything about running a cricket franchise, and I remember going to Shah Rukh’s home for meetings, where literally from putting the jingle together, to thinking of the uniform they’ll have, everything was done in house. I still remember, he made it black and gold, Shah Rukh, and I was not happy with it. I thought ‘what is this black and gold?’ Because black is considered inauspicious, isn’t it? But they worked more than I did.”

Juhi mentioned that she had another disagreement with Shah Rukh during the early IPL days. She noted that Shah Rukh was occupied during the days and worked extensively, leading to their meetings being scheduled for 10 pm. "Shah Rukh used to be busy during the days. He was working a lot so our meetings would be scheduled for 10 pm. They would start by 11 pm. Then everyone would talk for a while so by the time the meeting would start, it would be 12-12:30 pm and I would start dozing off in the meeting. After 2-3 meetings, I stopped attending. I said you guys do this, I am not coming," Juhi had shared.

Juhi and Shah Rukh have acted together in more than twelve films, such as Darr, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Ram Jaane, Yes Boss, Duplicate, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, and Bhoothnath. They partnered with filmmaker Aziz Mirza to establish a production company called Dreamz Unlimited in the early 2000s. However, Shah Rukh later launched his own production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. Alongside Juhi's husband, businessman Jay Mehta, they co-own the IPL team KKR. Shah Rukh's upcoming project is Sujoy Ghosh's crime drama King, while Juhi was recently seen in OTT series, The Railway Men.
