EXCLUSIVE - RIYA SHARMA ON DOING DHRUV TARA: HONORED TO BE A PART OF A SHOW WHICH IS NOT ONLY A SOURCE OF ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE AUDIENCE BUT ALSO TOUCHES UPON SENSITIVE TOPICS

Riya Sharma's portrayal in the costume drama "Dhruv Tara" is captivating audiences. In the ongoing storyline of 'Dhruv Tara - Samay Sadi Se Pare,' Tara is focused on abolishing the tradition of child marriage in the 17th century. She aims to impose a complete ban on the practice to thwart any potential attempts by Surya Pratap to revert the decision. The actress spoke to ETimes TV about the new storyline about child marriage and shooting for a costume drama in summers.

Speaking about the current track which highlights the social evil, child marriage, Riya shared, "The storyline right now is super captivating. The show addressed the issue of child marriage in a recent track and my character Tara put in a lot of effort to prevent child marriage from happening in Devgarh. It's impressive how themes like women's empowerment, child marriage and many more are spoken about in the show and it makes me very proud to be at the heart of this storytelling."

She further spoke about how her character Tara will stop the tradition of child marriage, "Tara has always stood against injustice. This time around too, she is against the harmful tradition of child marriage. Tara has all the support that she needs, and with now being given the title of “king” herself, Tara has the power to turn this tradition around. She realizes that she needs to deinstitutionalize the tradition and does all that is in her power to do so. Tara finds a book that says that a big disaster is going to happen soon, and she uses this opportunity to stop child marriage by saying that the disaster can be averted if the tradition of child marriage is stopped. Of course, in doing so, she faces constant pressure and opposition from Surya Pratap (Karan V. Grover) but both are adamant about achieving their goals."

Riya sent out a strong message for the audience, she says, "I am honored to be a part of a show like Dhruv Tara that not only is a source of entertainment for the audience but also touches upon sensitive topics. I am thankful to the fans for their constant support. Tara's character shows us that even when it seems like there's no way out, there's always a way forward. Her determination and resilience can serve as an inspiration for how to tackle challenging situations in our own lives."

When asked about how she and other star cast managed to shoot a costume drama during this scorching heat, "It's challenging, especially with the heavy costumes and jewellery. Our show involves a lot of action, from sword fighting to horse riding, so it can be tough. However, it's all worth it when the scenes turn out great. Having said that, managing all of that while remembering lines and dialogues can be tricky. Sometimes, the heat and sweat make it a little difficult to focus, and your mind goes blank. But that's just part of the job, and overall, I'm not complaining. I am grateful for such opportunities that come my way and I can feel nothing but gratitude.
