WEATHER UPDATE: IMD FORECASTS HEAVY TO VERY HEAVY RAINFALL IN DELHI OVER WEEKEND

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the national capital over the weekend. On Thursday, the city experienced showers, a much-needed respite from the heat.

It was only last week that the temperatures in the city dropped below 40 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius, 3.7 notches above the season's normal, according to the IMD.

According to PTI, in its bulletin, the IMD outlined that a thunderstorm with lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph is expected in some parts of Delhi and other states on June 28 (Friday). Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated areas of Delhi on June 29 and 30.

The weather department has forecast localised flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and closure of underpasses due to very heavy rainfall in the national capital on June 29 and 30.
