Leaving behind the rush of city life isn’t something most people can do easily, but for Divya Bhathela, it was the only way to truly find peace. Once based in Dubai, surrounded by its gleaming skyscrapers and constant motion, she chose to walk away from it all for a quieter, more meaningful existence in the Himalayas. With a one-way ticket to India and a heart set on change, Divya arrived in Rishikesh, the spiritual capital by the Ganga, to begin her new life as a meditation coach.
In a short Instagram video, Divya documented her journey, from boarding her flight to Dehradun to settling into a simple ashram room that she now calls home for the next 30 days. The space, bare yet serene, symbolises her commitment to “living, learning, and unlearning”.
Sharing her motivation behind the move, Divya wrote that meditation had completely transformed her outlook on life. “It helped me see myself and manifest the life of my dreams. I thought, what if I could teach others to do it too? So here I am to become a certified meditation coach,” she wrote in her video.
Her caption read, “New journey, let me know what more on this journey should I talk about.”
The post has gone viral, nearing seven lakh views, with people flooding the comments section, some applauding her decision, others relating deeply to her quest. One Instagram user wrote, “I stayed in Rishikesh for six months and it transformed me from within. It’s gonna be a wonderful experience, do soak in all the positivity of Rish. All the best.”
Another user, with a hint of humour, remarked, “So now Rishikesh is the new sunburn bcoz this is probably the tenth or twelfth post I am seeing of people going there for retreats and making content on it.”
Others were inspired by her courage. “You are inspiring me to do the same as I have always been inclined to Yoga and meditation,” one person commented. “I was in Rishikesh for few hours just to see the Ganga Aarthi, it moved me so much I started to cry, would love to go there again.”
Some shared stories that mirrored Divya’s. One Instagram user wrote, “I quit my 7+ years of corporate career and now I am proudly a yoga, meditation & wellness coach. Rishikesh & the Shiva blessed me with all that was required to make this shift. Do go for Ganga Aarti, Ganga snan. It’s all so peaceful & calm.”
