NEXERA HEALTH’S HIMANSHU RAJPUROHIT ON FAILING TO GET A DEAL AT SHARK TANK INDIA 4, SNAPPING AT KUNAL BAHL: ‘OUR TRACTION IS UP 30X’

Shark Tank India 4 has been making records from the day it started, including Peyush Bansal offering a Rs 5 crore -- the highest till now on the show -- deal to a pitcher. However, 19-year-old pitcher Himanshu Rajpurohit was among those who walked away empty handed from the show despite 'sharks' initially being impressed by the youngster's business acumen and the fact that he has already set up three start-ups.

His 'success hangover', as Aman Gupta called it, went against him. Having established two successful businesses and now heading on to his third one, Nexera Health's founder shared on the show how his entrepreneurship journey started at the age of 12 and he was heavily inspired by Ritesh Agarwal. Undeterred, in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Himanshu called his stint on the show a great one.

Talking about the Shark tank experience, he said, "I am grateful for the opportunity because lakhs of applications fail and only 180 pitches are presented in front of the sharks. A lot of learning, people from across the world have been showing love. Parents are proud, they hosted a special screening in the house, overall it has been a great experience." He also added, "Ritesh met me off the tank and invited me for a one-on-one meeting and spent one and a half hours with me two days later. He offered me mentorship and gave me a super amazing life lessons. I have no regrets or guilt of any kind."

After shark Kunal Bahl pointed an error on his website, he was heard saying that the website was created two days before his Shark Tank India experience. His sharp response to Bahl during the show also offended the sharks. Himanshu, however, said that it was a misunderstanding. "That was a misunderstanding, that clip was not shown. The website was updated and a few minor changes were made. The website and company have been running for a good amount of time, every stat mentioned in the website was very thoroughly checked with due diligence by the team of Shark Tank India. It was a miscommunication that was cleared but it wasn’t shown."

Himanshu Rajpurohit also shared his opinion about the Sharks and how they reacted to his pitch. "Everyone has their perspective, sometimes miscommunication does happen. The Sharks were very kind even when the pitch ended, all of them appreciated my journey and said that they were happy to help. You get conscious sometimes being surrounded by cameras and five people bombing you with questions while you are alone," he shared.

Revisiting the moment where Himanshu snapped at Kunal Bahl, the pitcher defended, "What happened was that a demo was being shown which was the app video recording, so I requested him that once the video was done, I would answer the questions and I did that after the clip was done. And they were completely fine with it, maybe that clip didn’t come out." Talking about the impact Shark Tank India has had on his business, Himanshu said, "It is not at all bad, people have been loving us, our traction has jumped 30x and we have been receiving a great amount of inbounds. It is the most we have received in our careers, so the growth has been tremendous. When you appear on STI, every fact is checked, and my DMs are flooded with kind notes on every platform. Everyone is loving my journey that started at the age of 12, Shark Tank gave me the voice to reach the masses and tell my story to the world."

Himanshu also shared if his idea to be on the show was just to advertise his brand. Sharing his views, Himanshu said, "Of course, Shark Tank gives you the marketing, but what would be better than me getting funding and mentorship from the sharks? They have more wisdom and knowledge that is beyond money for me. As a kid when I was kicked out of meetings, I saw Ritesh’s videos for motivation. Mentorship and guidance are above money for me always."
