FIVE EARLIER, NOW TEN? TRUMP’S CLAIM ON INDIA-PAKISTAN CONFLICT SHIFTS AGAIN — WHAT HE SAID NOW

For months, US President Donald Trump has claimed credit for preventing a potential "nuclear war" between India and Pakistan. Now, in his latest statement, he claimed “10 jets were shot down,” revising his earlier claim that “eight jets were shot down.” As Trump continues to highlight his role in defusing tensions between the two nations, he has been seen changing figures in his remarks on the May 2025 conflict.

During an interview with Fox, the US president stressed that he used "trade and tariff" as the key to halt the conflict between the two nations, adding that it would have been a nuclear war.

"It would have been a nuclear war, in my opinion. They were really going at it; 10 planes were shot down. They were going at it,” the US president said.

However, Trump has changed his remark on the number of planes shot down several times since the war broke out. In July 2025, he claimed, "five jets were shot down". By September-October, he claimed "seven brand-new beautiful planes" were shot down. Then, in November, Trump said, "eight planes were shot down". This number kept on increasing, as he has now claimed "ten planes" were shot down.

'Going To Charge You Tariffs'

The US president, in the interview, further claimed that out of eight wars he settled, at least six were because of tariffs. "I settled eight wars. Of the eight, at least six were settled because of tariffs. In other words, I said if you don't settle these wars, I am going to charge you tariffs, because I don't want people getting killed," Trump said.

Trump has been claiming credit for stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan, asking for a Nobel Prize to bring peace. While Pakistan also credits him for the same, India has always distanced itself from these claims, denying any third-party mediation.

Moreover, the US president was the first to announce on social media about the "full and immediate" ceasefire between the two countries, after talks mediated by the US.

How Many Times Trump Credited Himself For Stopping India-Pak Conflict?

In his self-praised pitch, the US president has claimed over 80 times since May 10, 2025, that he played a major role in stopping the India-Pakistan conflict. He has also complained that he was never given due credit for the same.

Trump has always been expressive when it comes to his claims on the Nobel Peace Prize and feels he totally deserves it, as he has "stopped 8 wars".
